The provisional list of events for 2011 and the reliability rides for the end of 2010 are now on the events page. The first reliability is on the 21st November and will start from Poundbury cyclesports. Darren and Heidi have kindly volunteered to run the reliability's from their shop and will try to provide tea and biscuits at the end of the event. Please be aware that if you are driving to the start for these events do not park on the graveled area as this is for residents only. Please park on the main roads. Please see the chairman's update on the home page for more details. Although it is still early can i ask members to think about volunteering to timekeep an event for 2011. The earlier we can fill all the slots the better.

Welcome back! Hopefully the website problems
are now behind us and a big thank you to Martin. To catch up
a bit, here is what you have missed. Firstly, well done to Stu
Carrington on being the first club member this season to take
part in an open event. Here is what the great man himself had
to say about it...."In a moment of madness I decided to
give this one a try at the weekend. I had planned not to mention
it to, but it seems that somehow Ian has already found out.
Achieved a remarkably poor 29:55 to come a pitiful 42nd out of 46 starters. Winner was Aran Stanton with a 21:43 (he then immediately followed that up in the 2 up event with a 21:52)
However, there were some positives from my performance:
- I beat the only two starters with slower PB's than my own
- I discovered that my max heart rate is a little higher than I had previously thought; although it must be said that the early stages of a race is probably not the best place to discover 101%
- And, best of all, no matter how long I live, nobody will ever be able to take a worse photo of me than the one produced by the official race photographer.
oh yes, and to top it all off perfectly, when i got back to my car I couldn't bend my elbows - this made it rather tricky to get my keys and I had to waylay this poor local woman and ask her to rummage around in the sweaty back pocket of my ill fitting lycra top - from the look on her face I am not convinced that I really made her day with that request" Well Done Stu.TOP
Last sunday,28th Feb, was the first inter-club of the season, hosted by Poole Wheelers. 10 riders turned up for today's first running of the CC Weymouth New Year's Day 10. Just like old times it was Julian Thacker who took the win with 24:56 on a very cold but bright afternoon. A tie for 2nd place saw visitor Simon Rouse, Gillingham & Dist, and John Chapman get 26:34. 4th place went to Chris Jones, on his standard road bike, with 27:20. Andrew Preston, after a diet of long steady miles and Pete Read's black book, took 5th with 28:21, closely followed by William Wilson, with 28:52. Michelle Lindley was next in with 30:47. Team Formotion, probably an anagram for something, riding as a 3-up, completed the course in 28:49. Hopefully a few more riders will make the effort next year. Full Result
